Stop dreaming your life, start living it

How many times have I found myself imagining projects, dreaming my life, without ever taking action to turn those dreams into reality?

Like being paralyzed, stuck in a time-space
Procrastination and daydreaming, two very common behaviors, often prevent many people from achieving their goals. Procrastinators tend to postpone tasks, allowing themselves to be overwhelmed by non-essential activities. As for dreamers, they have high aspirations, beautiful visions, but struggle to turn these visions into concrete actions.

These habits, though seemingly harmless, can lead to frustration, decreased productivity, and an overall sense of insufficient accomplishment.

The race towards goals

When trying to overcome procrastination, the first thing most people do is set goals.

We tell ourselves that writing a long to-do list, planning everything out, will solve the problem. However, the reality is often different: we try to do everything at once, quickly feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task, and end up getting discouraged. The result? Exhaustion, giving up, and back to square one.

In my opinion, this approach is too rigid. It doesn’t take into account how dreamers, like you and me, operate. We need something more fluid, more aligned with our deep aspirations and emotions.

How I manage this

After being stuck in this vicious cycle myself, I learned to adopt a method that suits me, a gentler and more intuitive approach. Here is my step-by-step process:

Avant même de lister mes objectifs, je travaille sur mon état d’esprit.

For me, it's crucial to reprogram my thoughts to make taking action easier. Why? Because if I haven’t acted up until now, it’s often because I didn’t feel capable. Not ready, not legitimate, or simply paralyzed by the fear of failure.

I remind myself that anything is possible. I can do it, or at least try. I’d rather attempt and fail than look back later and realize I missed out on my life because I didn’t dare. It's about accepting to play the game of life, despite its uncertainties and limiting beliefs.

For me, it’s all about the mindset above all.

Many people use positive affirmations, but I prefer to draw inspiration from those who resemble me and have succeeded.

Not necessarily unreachable figures, but individuals slightly ahead of me, people who have walked a similar path. They become living proof that it’s possible.

Their success fuels my belief in my own abilities.

For me, spirituality plays a key role

Drawing closer to God, feeding my spirit with divine words, and reminding myself that I am never alone on this journey strengthens my confidence. I learn to see the beauty in the process and trust that every seed I plant will eventually grow in its own time.

Gratitude becomes a powerful force, a daily support that keeps me going, even when the results take time to show.

Next, I make sure to maintain balance in my daily life.

Faire des choses qui me plaisent, chanter, danser, passer du temps avec ma famille et des personnes positives, ou encore m’immerger dans la nature me permet de maintenir un état d’esprit léger et joyeux. Le repos est également crucial.

I take care of my body and mind by listening to my needs, and this helps me stay motivated.

Another key element is learning emotional management.

When I go through emotional turbulence, it can easily distract me from my projects. If I don’t regulate these emotions, they become excuses for procrastination. Instead of moving forward, I get overwhelmed by worries, ruminate, and in the end, nothing gets done.

Learning to acknowledge my emotions without being consumed by them has allowed me to keep progressing, even in the storm. It taught me not to let life’s ups and downs derail my focus.

Finally, there is, of course, the classic method of planning. Once my mind is at peace, I start listing my goals.

But I don’t stop there: I prioritize them, break each goal into smaller steps, and then plan the concrete actions to take. Tracking my progress helps me stay motivated without feeling overwhelmed.

In the end, every dreamer needs their own method.

What works for me might be different from what will work for you, but the key is to stay connected to yourself, to cultivate patience and kindness toward your own process. Procrastination may seem like an enemy, but sometimes it allows us to better understand our fears, our blocks, and mentally prepare for the real leap into action.

What matters most is trying, not perfecting everything on the first attempt. After all, the journey is just as important as the destination.
